Lolo's 2nd birthday

Lolo turned 2 yesterday.

Because Uncle J do not have a blog for Lolo, he has asked me to put up something for Lolo.

Mom has been busy lately and decided to bake a birthday cake for Lolo instead of buying her treats or toys.

Here is Lolo with her birthday cake. She look so sweet doesn't she and so 'lady' like?
but let me tell you, she is a tough cookie

Auntie S told me the main ingredient in her cake was lamb and since I could not afford to buy her a birthday gift, I have decided to offer her a dash of Pepper for the day (I am sure it will enhance the taste of the cake). ENJOY..... your present is right behind you.....the one with the glowing eyes

Thanks for the party. Can I go to sleep now?

Even your brother, Chewie is tired

My favorite pastime

Not shopping, not reading BUT sleeping

I have been listening to Auntie G and her beauty tips and most times, she says she loves her beauty sleep so like her, I love my beauty sleep too.

Unless there are distractions otherwise, I will spend the whole day sleeping or having power naps

Distractions like, when Bully was over at my place (see I even manage to convince her to have a nap)

……. Even when we are out, I don’t mind sleeping. If the sun is too strong, then I will ask any of my friends (in this case, it is Rafv) to cover my eyes. Oh I remember a song called Friends for life - see Rafv is not even sleeping. He just want me to be comfy and have a little snooze

In the evening, when it is not so hot, I will convince my friends to lie down beside me

When my friends come for dinner, my mom always accuse me of being a bad host because by 9.30pm, yawning dawns on me

......and my biological clock will make me wander off to my bedroom. There, hehe you see me waiting by the door hoping someone will open it

Sorry friends if I have been a bad host but I think Auntie G has good advice to give so I am following her advice.

Dogs in pig skin

In Canada, there is an article in the Globe and Mail (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/) on April 15th Page A17, by a columnist Christie Blatchford on ‘Bullie for me, I’m getting a puppy’

Let me address her as Auntie Christie. Auntie Christie talked about her excitement of getting her first Bull Terrier pup. She said she is so captivated by the looks of the Bullie and how her currently round pup’s face will transform into the long egg-shaped snout typical of the breed.

She particularly “love the look of the white bull terrier — they look most like pigs (indeed, they're sometimes called dogs in pig skin) and their small black eyes gleam ever so much beadier”.

And not surprising my doggie friends’ owners have brand me into a ‘new breed’ – The Pig Bull Terrier (after so many ignorant humans refer to us as Pit Bull)

Source of puppy pictures: www.nextdaypets.com/directory/dogs/dog_picture/1100056/
Do we really look like pigs?

On beady eyes, I often thought all my friends’ moms and dads were teasing me about them until I saw this article

Do I really have beady eyes?

Let me know what you think?

Why am I name Scuba?

SCUBA - Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. WOW what a mouthfull.

Self Contained - Yes, that is me. Definition: Having self-control; reserved; uncommunicative; wholly engrossed in one's self.

Underwater - I guess if you give me the right equipment, I can be in the water. Don't quite like the surface though.

Breathing - Pretty good at it or I will not be blogging

Apparatus - Everyone calls me a lean mean machine so there you go.

Actually, mom and dad met each other when they were scuba diving hence the name. And it is a tradition at home that if one Scuba passes on, the other dog will be name SCUBA (I am the second one)

What I wanted to say is, I don't like the sea and c'mon, some books on bull terriers says we can't swim because of our body mass.

As much as I don't like the sea, I don't have a choice Once our owners decide to go to the beach, we just have to tag along.

See how terrified I am in the water

...then water get into my ears

...............…and my eyes

Before I can see anything, I pray that the big bad wolf don't eat me

Thank goodness ...finally land

I will have to shake to dry myself off on the sand. Love the sand

Feels good when it brush against your belly

Only when I feel I am dry then I go enjoy myself

You guess it, by the time, I get home, I am totally knackered (like the English will say - hey I am English after all)

The Huskies in my life

Not sure if I was a Huskie in my past life.

Om Ommmm - I have been meditating for the longest time and still haven't got an answer.

My life is / was surrounded by Huskies. Here goes..............

My very 1st friend (he is like my big brother. He comes to protect me if he thinks I am in danger. Many times I got him into trouble while playing with other dogs. I only need to 'cry' and he will dash from far and try to attack the dog I am playing with - thinking I am hurt). We both share the same birtday month and have been celebrating our birthdays together. He loves staying over at my place.

Then came 4 Huskie puppies (of course they are not mine......hehe just in case). I love them. They made me feel like a Big Brother. I even feel I had to protect them from my siblings. They were soooooo cute. I miss them. Out of the 4, I only see one quite regularly. Boy he is 'bigger' than me now. Auntie S love them loads too

Currently, staying with me now is yet another Huskie. My god, this one use to attack me for no reason when I first met him. Mind you, not once but a couple of times. Fate works in funny ways and he is at my house. Well I have been brought up to be forgiving so no worries here. After all he is nursing his health.

The last of the Huskies in my life is really a maltese cross shih tzu. His name is Huskee. Auntie Sh and Uncle M's little boy. I only met him once or twice when they brought him over to play with me. I haven't seen him for a long time now. I dont' know how to contact Auntie Sh (the last time I saw her, was on my discharge from the hospital and I was too zonked out to ask her). So if anyone knows her, let her know I miss Huskee and would love to see him again.

Uncle C told me a movie about Huskies is coming to the cinema soon. I am sure the DVD will find its way to my house. With my luck, I am definitely, positively sure.
I love Siberian Huskies but I don't want to be one of them or I will freeze to death with my little coat of hair

Face massage

I love to have face massages. There are only 2 of my friends who give superb face massage - Herbie and Rafv.

The humans are normally worried when I have those massages but hey my face feels so good after that. Can I have more please?

My siblings (Ginger & Pepper)

Let me introduce my 'hot' siblings - Ginger (you can tell from the colour)and Pepper (white pepper). Thank goodness my mom didn't name me Chilly or she will have all the hot spices in the house

Yes, you all know by now. Auntie G is my sister's (Ginger) new godmother. I am happy for her. She is the bossy one in the house.

Believe me, when I was a little pup, this Big Sister was tough on me. To begin with, she taught me how to respect her, to listen to her. Thank goodness mom didn't ask her to train me. Well that is not all true, she train me to play 'dead' (as you can see from the picture) she pawed me, crawl over me to make sure I am really 'dead'. Well the one thing I pick up from kitty habit is the art of kneading. Yes so much so that everyone knows that if I knead on my pillow, I am going to fall asleep.
Thank you big sister, I will always remember what you taught me. As you can see, at home she is my best friend.

You have read in Joey's blog that my siblings sleep on hard floors. I can assure you that is not the case. Look who is sleeping on my bed (with me) and who is cuddling up with me in my room.

The 3 of us do try to squeeze into my bed but unfortunately, there is not much space for us all. I know Joey doesn't see everything that goes on at home so I don't blame him.

Maybe one day, Auntie G should bring Ginger home to bond with her godbrothers. I told Ginger that Joey and Jack have new beds and she is ok to go over and try your new bed.

They are my siblings and of course I love them very much.

Ouch - No more hospital

I know, this is long overdue. Auntie R took a picture of me after my surgery - My stay at the hospital begin. U can see, I was so doopy, I just want to sleep but every 2hours, I have visitors (moms and dads of my friends).

Auntie S took pictures of my stitches. Look pretty awful isn't it.

Yes now I am fully recovered.

Yin & Yang

I hope my mom is not reading this or she will flip.

Last weekend, she went away (yes again). Didn't tell me where she went.

In her absence, I invited a female friend over. Her name is Kurochan. You all guest it, she is black and I am white (i.e. yin and yang).

I didn't know she is sooooooooooooo greedy. She growled at Chewie (my Huskie friend staying over) over Chewie's food. You can imagine. She became an immediate enemy of C.

I tried to be the perfect host by kissing her but she didn't quite like my kisses and told me off.

Auntie R told me not to worry and took us all (Rafv, Kurochan and I) to the park.

Stitches will be out soon and crawling to start

I went to see Dr Tan yesterday morning. He said I am doing well and said:
1) Come back on Thursday to have the stitches remove
2) Try to ease him into solid food
3) (with a smile)No oxtail
4) Will be sometime before you give him a bone. Big knuckle bone please
5) Will give this little guy a vitamin jab

Hmmm the thought of missing my 4 meals a day is killing me. I wonder if Dr Tan meant 4X a day solid food.

Auntie S and mom weigh me at the vet and was REAL surprise I haven't lost any weight (hehe 4days without food). Auntie G said maybe it will take a few more days before the weight reduction appears on the scale. She also said, all of me is made of muscles so maybe that explains why my weight is still the same. Oh no!!!!!, hope they don't cut down on my food (Herbie, please help).

I am looking forward to Thursday. After that, I can do my 'leopard crawl' or the commando training.

My friends came to visit

So good to see all my friends (Jack, Joey, Herbie and Rafv) last night. Tommy said he would come later but guess Uncle M and Auntie W were busy. But mom promised that Tommy will come later in the afternoon to spend the day and evening with me.

Auntie R, Auntie S, Auntie G, Uncle C, Uncle TCL came too (Can you bring me food next time you come please).

My godfather called from the US to see how I was doing. My mom said he had been very concern and I understand, he has been calling her almost every night since I went to the hospital. He told mom that Muscles (my godbrother – another Bull Terrier) and him, have been sending love and healing energy from Boston. THANK YOU GODPA AND MUSCLES.

Home sweet home

First I want to thank all my friends, aunties and uncles for your well wishes. Not forgetting my caretakers at Mt Pleasant – Dr H L Tan, Auntie Ling, Auntie Concordia and Uncle Richard. Ooooooh yes my new friends (I was told by mom) – Ice, Mark and Cream.

Bet mom will make sure I don’t touch any ox parts for a long time. Can’t understand why this animal only feed on grass and they grow so huge (even the bone that got stuck inside me was big).

I was not a happy dog since Friday. After the oxtail in the morning, I went without food for 4.5days.

Sunday (5th March) was a BAD BLACK day for me. Mom took me in to see Dr Tan in the morning. When mom told him I had taken oxtail, Dr Tan said ‘Oxtail – don’t need to say anymore. We have to take an x-ray”. Dr Tan didn’t spare a minute. Immediately after the bone appeared in the x-ray, I was put in a cage and less than an hour, I was fast asleep. When I woke up, I felt uncomfortable and was in pain. I know many aunties and uncles came to see me later but I was too dazed to say hello (sorry for being rude).

Thank you, Auntie G for the cushion. Boy did it help me by making me feel comfortable.

Yesterday afternoon, Uncle Jason came to see me (I thought he was taking me home). He didn’t but brought a towel for me instead. I gave him a few kisses anyway. 3hours later, Auntie Ryoko and Auntie S came to see me. By then I was a wee bit tired so I went to sleep. Auntie R took some pictures of me (in my sorry state). Mom came by around 6. I gave her loads of kisses – was also trying to tell her, I want to go home and I am hungry. Still no food (Herbie you will hate the thought of no food). Guess I am not going home - another night at the hospital. Wonder when I can go home.

This afternoon, mom, Auntie Cindy, Auntie Shane and Uncle Jason came to see me. Mom disappeared to talk to Dr. Tan. For a moment, I thought oh no another night at the hospital. But Auntie Cindy and Auntie Shane kept saying “Scuba you are going home” (but where is mom!!!!).

Then for the first time, I was allowed to come out of the cage. Auntie Concordia put a rope round me (mom said I look like a stray paikia dog with the rope round my neck) and said “Bye Scuba”

………..yawn. I don’t know what is happening to me but I still feel drugged so will continue tomorrow.

I am home though (hungry as usual).

THANK YOU EVERYONE.

A clean bill of health to Chewie

Chewie went to visit my favourite Dr Tan and he said Chewie is recovering well. He got his bandage taken off and he now look like a poodle. I was told he will have his stitches remove next week.

I was so happy to see him when he came home. I went to kiss him and he almost snap at me but I didn't mind because he is not feeling 100% well.

Frogs taste yucky

Which is what Scuba told me. I don't know if it's true, since I've never tasted a frog before.

Yesterday at the park, Scuba spied a frog on the other side of the fence and he kept sniffing and barking at it. I don't know what's so fascinating about frogs but Scuba likes them. And I think he's a bit stupid, coz there was a very big gap at the side of the fence where he could have just gone over to get the frog but did he do that? Nooo.... he tried to SQUEEZE himself inbetween the fence to get to the frog. I don't know what is going in in his mind. How in the world can he squeeze his 21kg body past a 5 inch gap?

The rest of the aunties and uncles were going 'Scuba, the other side! There's a big hole at the other side!'. Stupid dog. In the end Aunty S had to go over and drag him to where the huge gap is so that he can see it.

Anyway, we soon left him to his own devices, until my M noticed he seems to be licking his lips and munching. And all of them went 'where's the frog? Oh no!'. The aunties all went 'eeekkkss' and imagined Scuba eating the frog. Aunty S ran there and tried to pry open his mouth but he refused to open it. I bet everyone was imagining a mushed up frog in Scuba's mouth.

Luckily, Uncle C found the frog, unscathed and still alive a short distance away. Phew, turned out Scuba didn't eat it after all. But the humans think he tried to put it in his mouth but it tasted so bad he spit it out.

I asked Scuba, and he admitted it. He said the frog tastes yucky, and he was trying to rid the after taste in his mouth, which was why he was licking his lips.

Now that I know frogs taste bad, it's one more item off my menu.

News from Home (To my missing mummy)

This post is to update my mummy who is AGAIN away.....

Date : 16/02/2006
Didn't sleep well.
The humans decided to play mahjong after dog run and dinner. They were making so much noise by 'washing' the tiles, and cracking silly jokes. Auntie S decided to let me sleep in the balcony instead of mummy's room. I actually don't mind cos the breeze is wonderful. Unfortunately, for the entire night, LOLO was whining away like a broken record as she was tied up beside me, as she has a habit of peeing on the living room carpets, and her daddy is too busy playing MJ to look after her.

Date : 17/02/2006
Thought I can sleep till later. But at 7.30a.m, Auntie S dragged me out of bed cos J&J is coming over for a doggie day care. Than, I had to be dragged out to the streets to do my morning pee/poo..... arrrgghhhh... I want my bed!!!! Darn, don't think I will get much sleep later too as J&J will be too noisy barking, scavenging for scraps of food, and also RAFV is coming over later.

1) Rafv and I were on TV. 2) Herbie and Joey were featured in Today newspaper

Last Thursday, my mom and Uncle Caster were interviewed at Bishan Dog Run.

Because of their interview, Rafv and I were also featured. We appeared last Saturday on Channel U and Tuesday at 8am on Channel 8 (as usual, my mom missed it all as she was away).

Next, my other celeb friends - Herbie and Joey were on yesterday's Today paper. It talked about Herbie's adventure with the 2 kittens and their mommy cat. As for Joey, the paper talked about him being a volunteer in SCDF's Search & Rescue Dog Unit (am proud of Joey).

I don't quite understand Herbie's adventure. My siblings, (the cats) Ginger and Pepper are ok with Herbie and yet he was 'bullied' by kittens and Ma cat. I think Herbie should come to my house, have a heart to heart talk with P&G or ask Rafv on Purrfect techniques to deal with cats. Hehehe maybe P&G were secretly talking to their friends to give Herbie a Pre Big Birthday Surprise.

Yes Herbie's birthday is next Tuesday. Happy Barkday Herbie (from Auntie S, Mom, P&G and Me)

ohhhh in case you all miss Rafv and I, heard Auntie Shane told my mom that we are on Channel 8 tonight at 1030pm. I better make sure mom don't go for her Scottish Country dancing class tonight..........hmm better ask all my friends to come to my house tonight (generating the come to my house thought now).

I think Uncle Caster can do a better job + what happened over the weekend

I don't mind my new look at Rafv's blog. If mom has her way, she would like to draw 2 red circles over over beady eyes. Isn't the 'Target mascot" soooo cute.

I bet I look so adorable when I was a little pup.

Mom said I have to take my annual booster. So, last weekend, I went to see one of my fav people - Dr H L Tan. I was happy to see him just as he was happy to see me. He checked me out by pressing all over my body, open my mouth (I thought for one moment, he was going to lick or kiss me) but he didn't. After that, he gave me a jab. I think he has lost his skills giving injections since he has so many other vets working for him. Boy did it hurt when he plunge this thingy into me. Of course I cried out....................then he called me a Softie.

On my way to the car, we stop at the pet shop and mom spend a total of S$140+ there. Great more treats for me (and possibly my friends).

C'mon over guys what are you waiting for

My mom is not talking to me

I think I have been a bad bad boy.

I woke mom up like 6X to pee and poo. Don't think she mind me waking her up but on my last pee, that was the end of me.

Was having a bad dream (can't remember what it was now) but I think I was dreaming that my friends and our moms and dads went walking at Bishan. Somehow in the dream, Auntie Ryoko was carrying me in her arms (she must have miss me so much). I decided to jump off her and went for a pee on the grass.

Ho and behold, I peed on the carpet. Mind you I thought I was still dreaming when mom shouted at me "SCUBA YOU BAD BOY. WHY AND WHAT ON EARTH DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING. BAD BAD BOY" then followed by the spanking (in other words whatever mom can lay her hands on, she was at me).

Ever since then, she has not spoken to me. I am now a very frighten puppy (wish my friends were here). She promised me a rawhide last night but I haven't got one yet.
(So I guess Rafv, Tommy and Herbie were lucky to have a rawhide last night). I tried to give her my pathetic beady eye look, tried to snuggle close - NOTHING WORKS.

If you guys are reading this, can you tell your mom to tell her I am sorry. Accident do happen.

Wonder if she will bring me out later?

Please help

2nd morning of 2006 and I got drag out of bed to go to Sentosa

My usual waking time is 9.30am and yes you read the title of this post. I am now short of 1.5hours of precious sleep (mind you I didn't get to sleep till almost 11pm - because our moms and dads planned to take us out for a long walk and hehe halfway, it started to drizzle). I think that was when they all decided to go to Sentosa.

My mom put me in the car and she said "Sweetheart, I think I will get breakfast for everyone. Let's go to the market first". Breakfast for everyone, that is not true - me and my friends didn't get any!!!!!

Auntie S was not with us so I am safe from the water although they all tried to get me in. In the end, I must admit I lost coz Tommy's dad carried me into the water. No matter how hard I struggle I could not win Tom's dad (guess he is big and strong).

I met many new friends (there were a few GRs and a beagle). Tommy didn't like the beagle or was it the other way round.

This is for Auntie Ryoko (I know you are reading our blogs) -
Rafv joined us later........ went straight into the water. Still interested in Tom's ball. He seem to be SO happy. When he came out of the water, he played with Herbie and I. He was playing rough with me when Uncle Caster shouted "Rafv, Scuba pain pain" then there was a little blood on my body and everyone thought I got bitten by my brother. I didn't feel anything and I thought YES - bull terrier's threshold for pain is high. But but we only found out the blood was from Rafv's gum. We all had a good laugh after.

Auntie R, I think with you in Japan, Rafv is lazy. He has not updated his blog at all. Shame on him. I think he either miss you or don't know how to switch the computer on. I keep telling him it is ok. Your mom will be back in 6days time and in the meantime my mummy is your mummy (he also very manja to my mom and sometimes I think my mom sayang him more than me - lucky I am not the craving for attention type).

I think Auntie Sharon will update with photos on Herbie's blog so watch out for them.

OK me got to go now. Feeling tired and sleepy

New Year or Hogmanay

When my dad was around, he would call the New Year's celebration Hogmanay and his kinsmen would sing Auld Lang Syne after, but now I only hear New Year's celebration - no singing but loads of sparkles and poppers (that would frighten Rafv but I like the sparkles).

Whatever they call it, I had fun yesterday. Herbie, Jack, Joey, Rafv and Tommy came over to spend the last day of 2005 and the first day of 2006 with us (Ginger, Pepper and I).

Mom was very busy yesterday morning and afternoon and she ignored Rafv and I. She didn't know we were salivating from the smell of all the meat around. She was preparing food for the BBQ. I heard her saying like "Ok, I will marinate the beef with beer, the lamb with rosemary, the pork (especially for Auntie G) with garlic and soy sauce etc etc". As though Rafv and I care - just give us the meat why fuss over them.

Oh........then late in the afternoon, the rain came and poor mom couldn't believe it. I didn't mind the rain for 2 obvious reasons.
1) I don't need to walk to the park (paws still sore)
2) Maybe all my friends and I can have all the uncook meat

Bad news for me and friends, the rain stopped.

Herbie and Tommy were the first to arrive then followed by Jack and Joey much later (they told me their HC was tired or lazy so didn't bring them earlier)

Finally they had their BBQ last night and thank goodness, we were not allowed into the bbq area or we will definitely be hot dogs. Auntie S took care of all of us (she made us beef tendons).

Mr and Mrs Vijay came too.

We are so loved that all the toast were made with us DOGGIES in mind (that was Uncle Caster's idea).

All our moms and dads came back to my house at about 12.30am (of course I was in bed - where else!!!!! after all it is passed my bedtime). Mrs Vijay and Auntie S came to my room to say hello........hehe......I was sleeping. After, mom thought I was awfully rude for being a BAD host so she drag me out of bed to say hello to all the aunties and uncles. I hated it at first but then I discovered Uncle Marcus was having food so I stick around him all the time. Of course he fed me and Tommy too.

Not sure what time but after a while, everyone started to say goodbye and off they went. Me back to bed.

Happy New Year to all
(Guys, come end of the month, it will be the YEAR OF THE DOG - that's us)
We will drink and eat to that
